Product Development Experience
- 22+ years of extensive experience in many areas of FMCG manufacturing operations.
- Proven product development experience with more than 50 products developed from concept up to“ready for market” stage, with a few of the products being highly rewarded with medals. However, the most interesting product development project was a Heat Resistant Compound Chocolate developed for the military.
- Experienced in sourcing or developing technology for new product implementation.
- Very good understanding of ingredient functionality and their inter-dependence in a manufacturing process, based on a strong chemistry background. Vast experience with ingredients related to confectionery industry.
- Experienced in product compliance from developing Product Specification to food standard compliance and labeling requirements and other legal aspects related to products, including some import– export related requirements.
- Very good understanding of technical matters, from mechanical and electrical aspects to food functionality and the correlation between all these factors in a production process - knowledge attained by training, backed up with many years of hands on experience (gained through personal involvement in all aspects of production and maintenance and working directly with all specialized trades personnel during start ups and maintenance).
- Broad experience in various Legal Compliance Requirements accumulated through involvement in a variety of projects in different countries (Food Standards, Labeling Requirements, Food Safety, OSH, etc).
- Extensive technological experience acquired by implementing, improving or developing new technologies for new or existing products.
- Very skilled in identifying and diagnosing problems as well in finding solutions.
- Experience in Change Management gained by developing and implementing SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for a vast variety of jobs from manufacturing to retail, adjusted to meet OSH requirements and Food Safety recommendations where the case (developed 2 factory Manuals and implemented the changes in the work place).
- Vast knowledge of HACCP gained through development, implementation and management of a few different FSP’s (Food Safety Programmes) for different companies (developed 3 different FSP and implemented and managed 2 of them over time).
- Experience with audits. I have carried out 11 audits in the last 7 years from standard FSP audits to more in dept audits done by large organizations (e.g. Fonterra,UK Ministry of Defence, Isagenix –a large US pharmaceutical company).
- Knowledge of Quality Systems gained through creating and managing quality assurance departments as well as developing quality standards within organization.
- Administrative background, including facility planning and supervisory experience. Supervised teams of 50 people + (in some instances even larger teams).
- “Start up” experience from single manufacturing lines or individual machinery to complete factory start-ups including machine installation, compliance aspects as well as human capital integration.
- Good negotiation skills developed over time by working with suppliers and customers.
- Ability to find new suppliers and new supply channels.
- Good eye for detail and skilled on continuous monitoring and finding solutions for saving money.
- Sales skills – involved in sales mostly at technical level where my knowledge and experience can help the customer finding solutions for their problems or for future projects.
